SAN BENITO—Eva G. Penny was born on November 19, 1934 in San Benito, Texas and died on Thursday,
December 10, 2015 at her residence in San Benito, Texas surrounded by family. She was 81 years old.
Eva worked at the San Benito Headstart for 11 years, followed by 17 years as a paraprofessional at San Benito High School. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, collecting antiques, and gardening. She also served as an Elder for her church community for many years.
Her parents, Andres Gonzales and Emilia Aldape Gonzales; son, Leeroy Penny; sister, Ester K. Miller; and brothers Elias Gonzalez, Andres Gonzales, Jr., and Ernesto Gonzalez, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, James “JD” Penny and wife Rosario Penny; three grandsons; siblings, Elizabeth (Jesus) Caballero and Abel Gonzalez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A chapel service will commence today, Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Thomas Johnson. Interment will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Sweet Eva Penny was my Sunday school teacher in the 1960’s and 1970’s and a wonderful Christian.
LeeRoy I am so sorry for your loss. Although I haven’t seen you since we were kids, I have good memories of you and your mom. God bless you and your family.
