San Benito police confirmed that a 15-year old student from the IDEA San Benito campus was arrested this morning after he threatened to “shoot-up” the school.
According to San Benito Detective Rogelio Banda, a threat was made yesterday by the student and was relayed to them this morning. After a quick investigation, the student, whose name will not be released since he is a minor, was arrested at a residence in San Benito. He is still in custody.
IDEA Public Schools issued this statement on the matter:
“At IDEA Public Schools the safety of our students in and outside of the classroom is paramount. We have looked into the threat made and have confirmed it was a hoax. Appropriate next steps will be taken with the best interest of our students in mind.”
