On Halloween night last season, the Greyhounds were poised to clinch the District 32-6A crown. With two games left in the season, San Benito could clinch the top spot with a win over Harlingen South. As zombies and ghosts flooded the streets, San Benito could taste first place, but were disturbingly caught in a nightmare as the Hawks overcame a halftime deficit in a frightening 21-10 victory. The loss eventually led the team to a second-place finish.

Now, the ‘Hounds (6-2, 4-1) and Coach Dan Gomez are ready for sweet revenge against the Green Birds and just may have the essential ingredients to stir a winning, and terrifying, potion together.
An ingredient to Gomez’s successful offense is quarterback JR Gaitan. Last week, the senior carved Brownsville Lopez’s defense leading to 31 first-half points. He managed 123 passing yards and two touchdowns, all in the first half, as the starters sat the second half in a gruesome 45-7 victory.
