A San Benito teenager was arrested Monday after assaulting his 41-year-old stepfather for allegedly hitting his mother.
Enrique Benitez, 19, admitted to police that he assaulted his stepfather, but according to the teen’s mother, he was simply protecting her.
According to the San Benito Police Department, after responding to the 500 block of Perkins Street early Monday morning, they found the 41-year-old stepfather sitting on the floor, bleeding from his face “profusely.” After an ambulance was called for the man, police began speaking with his wife, who told officers that her husband had first assaulted her and bruised her face earlier. When her son, Benitez, found out what happened, he confronted his stepdad and they engaged in a physical altercation, police said.
