Mayor: City pool top 3 on priority list

Staff Writer

For roughly the last seven years or so, if you wanted to enjoy a dip in the pool, you had only two options: drive to Harlingen, or buy your own. However, there is good news on the horizon as San Benito officials are optimistic that by next summer, the City will once again be able to boast a fully functional swimming pool for the public to use.
While there currently have been no formal talks within the City commission on the topic, San Benito Mayor Celeste Sanchez classified a new community pool as one of their top goals moving forward. “We weren’t able to get it this summer, but we’re really making it a priority to get something done for next spring or summer for sure,” said Sanchez. “We can’t promise anything other than the fact that we’re putting all our focus in getting a deal done to fix our pool.”
