The Texas Coaches Association has released their latest softball rankings and the San Benito Lady ‘Hounds are now ranked as the top team in the state. History has just been made as this ranking is the highest ever by a Rio Grande Valley Squad.

The Lady ‘Hounds will now travel to Corpus Christi on Friday to face New Braunfels Canyon in the Elite 8 round of the state playoffs in a best of three-games series at Cabaniss Sports Complex. A win there would give San Benito a return trip to the Final Four state tournament, which would be the second time the Lady ‘Hounds have ever accomplished that feat, the first coming back in 2013.

Schedule is below:

Game 1: Friday, 7:00 p.m.
Game 2: Saturday, 2 p.m.
Game 3: 30 mins after conclusion of Game 2 (if necessary)

Geez Marco no need to be a buzzkill…Why not just congratulate these young ladies on their tremendous accomplishment.

Academics are the most important yes but this article isn’t about that. It’s about recognizing the hard work and athletic accomplishment of these young ladies. They worked all season for this and earned it so there’s no need to bring up other school district issues that have nothing to do with the lady hounds.

Good Luck and Go Lady Hounds!

If it were academics; then there would be something to celebrate. Now, give the rating for academics compared to the rest of the state. The ranking would scare most people.

A wonderful show of respect by a statewide audience from across the great state of Texas. None of us can wait to see this beautiful team back it up on the field. They are the chosen team we’ve all been waiting for.
