A night after a hard-earned win at home, the San Benito Lady ’Hounds did it again Friday night, taking a 2-0 game over McAllen Memorial to sweep their Class 6A area round best-of-three series.
San Benito (25-1) now will face either Laredo LBJ or Brownsville Veterans Memorial in the regional quarterfinals next weekend.
On Friday, good pitching and defense was the recipe to get past a good Memorial team.
It was a carbon copy of Thursday night.
In Game 1 at home, San Benito jumped on a shell-shocked McAllen Memorial in the first inning and then held them off with great defense to claim a 4-1 victory.
