The San Benito City Commission and the San Benito Economic Development Corporation (EDC) have announced plans to build a $19 million hotel and conference center for the City of San Benito. Contractors say they will be able to break ground on a new Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott in five to six months and should complete the project about a year after that.

That’s why it was built on the Harlingen border…duh! LOL

Seriously though San Benito’s getting a hotel in an area of the city where it could spark future business…why must you all be so negative?

I mean do you all really think they would have even considered building a hotel here on just the idea of people wanting to stay and visit San Benito? Lol
Those who visit family or friends and those who have business in the area are what they’re expecting much like the other hotels in the area.

So save the negative comments for all the layoff and false promise articles…

    Marco,

I agree. San Benito was once the beautiful Resaca City; now, it pains me to see some of the neighborhoods that were once a joy to drive by. And needless to say, some of the streets around town are horrible. It’s a total shame.

Why would anyone want to stay in San Benito? It is one huge barrio for the most part.

This is wonderful news. Good job to those who made this happen. Hopefully, we can get additional, complimentary businesses set up shop in the adjacent lots and continue to grow.
