The Sons of the Confederate Veterans is a local organization that wants to honor the Confederate soldiers who fought during the Civil War.
Ruben Cordova, who heads the local chapter, also wants people to understand that what the history books say isn’t necessarily how things happened.
“We try to teach people the truth about the Confederacy,” he said, adding that “many Mexicans and Tejanos were actually here with the Confederacy.”
