WEB EXCLUSIVE: Annual Angel Tree Toy Drive Dec. 16

Special to the NEWS

The Annual Angel Tree Toy Drive is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

President and CEO of the START Center board, Ron Rogers said, “It’s something that START Center staff does to further support the community. It helps kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to celebrate Christmas.”

Angel Tree’s toy drive accepts new, unopened, unwrapped toys, gift cards and cash donations for children whose parents are in prison.

According to the South Texas Adult Resource and Training (START) Center, hundreds of children throughout Cameron County are forced to live away from their parents, who are incarcerated.

Each child receives two gifts, each valued from $15 to $20. One of the gifts is a clothing item, and the other is a type of toy.

Those interested in contributing can visit the START Center on 743 N. Sam Houston Blvd., or call 956-399-7818 for more information.
