Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 20 in Cameron County and state races.
Running for Governor are Greg Abbot, R; Wendy R. Davis, D; Kathie Glass, L; and Brandon Parmer, G.
Running for United States Representative, District 34 are Larry S. Smith, R; incumbent Filemon B. Vela, D; and Ryan Rowley, L.
Competing for Cameron County Constable, Precinct 3 are Roel Cavazos, R, son of the late constable Joe Cavazos; and Robert Lopez, D. The position is currently held by interim constable Ronald Cavazos, Roel’s brother.
In the running for Cameron County Judge are incumbent Carlos Cascos, R; and Joe G. Rivera, D.
Uncontested for State Board of Education, District 2 is Democrat Ruben Cortez, Jr.
Janet L. Leal, D, is unopposed for District Judge, 103rd Judicial District.
Democrat Benjamin Euresti, Jr. is unopposed for District Judge, 107th Judicial District.
Migdalia López, D, is running unopposed for District Judge, 197th Judicial District.
Running for District Judge, 197th Judicial District are Oscar X. Garcia, R; and Juan A. Magallanes, D.
Running against each other for Board Trustee No. 3 for Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District (LFCISD) are Reynaldo Farias and Juan Sierra.
Running unopposed for Board Trustee No. 3 at LFCISD is Jesus “Toy” Amaya.
Uncontested candidates declared elected are:
- Judge, County Court at Law No. 1, Arturo “Art” McDonald, Jr., D;
- Judge, County Court at Law No. 2, Laura L. Betancourt, D;
- Judge, County Court at Law No. 3, David Gonzales III, D.
Also up for vote is Proposition 1: “The constitutional amendment providing for the use and dilation of certain money transferred to the state highway fund to assist in the completion of transportation construction, maintenance and rehabilitation projects, not to include toll roads.”

The San Benito Community Building on 210 E. Heywood is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Oct. 24, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. The polling location will also be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 through Friday, Oct. 31.
Riverside Middle school on 35428 Padilla St. in San Benito will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 and Friday, Oct. 24.
The Los Fresnos Community Building on 204 N. Brazil will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Oct. 24, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. This location will also be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 through Friday, Oct. 31.
The Rio Hondo Annex Building on 125 W. Colorado will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Oct. 24. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
