San Benito Logo_w:skyThe carefree days of summer are nearing a close, and the goals and responsibilities of the upcoming school year are beginning anew.

Students and their parents are currently preparing for the first day of school, scheduled for Monday, Aug. 25 at San Benito CISD campuses.

According to SBCISD Superintendent of School Antonio G. Limón, district officials will continue to set their sights on improving instruction. In fact, Limón said that is the “number one goal.”

    @ Rosalinda,

You take pride being Medrano’s puppet master and personal interpreter because the guy cant think for himself. You have proven to everyone with your nonsense blogs and who you support that you stand for nothing positive for our children. Let me guess, you don’t have children attending San Benito school district because your focus is on crap and not holding your board members accountability for the worthless decisions and waste of tax dollars. You blogged, blogged and spoke about the previous board and your board is much worse. I agree with the previous blogger and I disagree that their being rude and disrespectful, its just what they think what you stand for and that’s nothing positive and all personnel gain. You guys are a joke and I also agree, Anna Cruz will not win 2015…. Trust me she is out!!!!!! Cava will make sure the future elections will be conducted fare without out right being violated by ignorant idiots!!! like the saying goes, if the shoe fits wear it….

To Citizen: Read my blog again. I never mentioned anyone by the name of Chuy talking and talking. What I stated was that the times I have attended meetings I have never heard someone speak for 30 min. during public comment. A person gets 5 min. to speak. I did not mention any name , you did.

To Cava supporter: That is right, I am at peace.

Attended special board meeting; budget addressed and approved. Board agreed that some tough decisions will need to be made to balance budget for next school year.

I have trust in the present school board that they will work together to bring positive results.

To Sunflower: thank you for your kind comments.

To E. Gallegos: Thank you for your kind words. And I agree, we all have different opinions, why do they have to be rude and disrespectful!

Thank you for reading my blog.

You would talk about chuy talking and talking and talking, well you do same and your super annoying. That’s sad. People that applaud your efforts are actually laughing at you. By the way, you talked about accountability and tax payer dollar misspent during the campaign, and your super four candidates have been the joke of the community. You have lost creditability, and the word on the street is that you should be under investigation for harvesting votes. Its just a matter time before you make the front page blog of EL RUN RUN.

I would put my hand in fire before I believe the horrible rumor that you are trying to spread. She is a respectable and honest woman. God be with her and protect her from her attackers.

  1. Just when we thought she was gonna for good, but she appears again( Rosalinda Garcia ). I’m sorry but this person is a total goof and blogs a bunch of nonsense crap. Aren’t you under investigation for harvesting votes? We the community will find out if you took part in disrespecting our rights by manipulating the elderly to vote for your candidates.. That just wrong! You play with fire you get burned… Peace ! O, god please help our district it’s going down the tubes fast…

Before anyone throws stones at a new board member who children attend another school district, you don’t have to look too far from your long standing lady board member.

    They’re skeltons in those closets.

Before anyone at SBCISD starts talking about Advanced Placement or Dual Credit, how about get some one up there (board meeting) to talk who knows what they are talking about. The former board president was wayyy off base as well as the Secondary Director. Neither one can even define AP or Dual Credit. Again a special board meeting that was not video tap. How nice for them.
For this policy that was adopted two days before school starts to go into effect today is because someone at Central Office does not know that when you adopt policy, it begins with the incoming freshmen class. That is Board Policy Administration course 101. Madame “I have a certificate and I know everything” trustee is wrong.
I sure hope someone reprinted the SBHS and VMA Handbook that addresses the grade point average (GPA) and ranking process and gave it to the high school students today at the first of school. I am sure my neighbor whose daughter is high ranking junior is going to ask someone tomorrow. I sure hope Mr. Sanchez has the right answer.

I wonder if I can get a copy of that motivational speaker presentation? I wasn’t impressed with a previous one they had in 2013-14. I am thinking that the speech would have had more relevance and sincerity if he could have said “I proudly have my children enrolled in SBCISD”!

I interpret as if the head coach tries to motivate his football team but yet his sons play in Harlingen district? Would not make sense!
The speaker has the right to place his children where ever he chooses, but I don’t feel that was a right choice to have him as a speaker when he has his children are enrolled at Idea Academy.

And yes, there is also a board member friend of mine that has children enrolled at Idea which I too don’t agree with.

It’s just an opinion. Thanks for reading my blog.

BTW: Have attended several board meetings and I have never heard anyone speak for half an hr. during public comment.

To Ridiculous: Anna Cruz is not going anywhere. She will win her re-election.

  2. The word on the street is that a few board members are really getting out of line pushing by micro managing our administration and staff. If these board members don’t understand their role as public servants they should be reported to TEA or TASBE for a quick refresher. ANNA CRUZ, ANGEL MENDEZ, OSCAR MEDRANO and SUPER ARNOLD are the biggest joke and we all know it. They have proven to us ( community) that they stand for incompetence and no accountability. When these people win there promised positive change and we got horrific results with political favors number 1 priority, wasting tax dollars and lastly our children’s education which they have done nothing for till this point. Will, I can guarantee you one thing, this coming election will be a lot different without Rosalinda Garcia and Chon Lopez influence and TRUST ME ANNA CRUZ WILL NOT WIN, 2015!!!!! So Anna continue pushing your weight around and pissing people off because you only have a till May 2015 to try to get you way, cause your out…

So, the new head football coach was allowed to buy new football uniforms, new helmets, new shoes and paint the words “War Dog” in the athletic complex. How much did all this cost? Did he order them from a local vendor? When are we as employees going to see our pay raise? How about it Mr. Padilla? You said the district was over staffed. You said that in 3-4 years “they could get a substancial increase”. Really sir. When was the last time you ran an organization of 1,600 employees?
Again, where did all the money come to outfit the varsity team?
Don’t get me wrong, we are supporters of the “Greyhounds” not the War Dog.
What happened to TRADITION? And Who allowed him to change that TRADITION?

    Doninoe,
It’s not that we the people blame board members right away, but understand when an employee makes a mistake who do they go after? Most of the time it’s their employer or their boss, because someone has to be held accountable. Whether the board knew he was going to be the speaker or not doesn’t matter. Just remember this board you support brought Mr. Limon back, so now his actions will reflect this board.

    Como es Juan
If you agree this preacher guy wasn’t a motivator then ask yourself, what was he doing there in the first place?Like the other blogger said, “Ironic, isn’t it, that the man chosen to give the motivational speech at the beginning of the school year meeting….. has all his children at IDEA Academy!!!” I can understand if he was from another city or from out of town, but one of our own citizens was chosen, so don’t you think that person should have his children in SB School District, in conjunction with being a respectable upstanding citizen? (Which I’m Sure he is) If we had a better leader as a superintendent, the district wouldn’t need to pay a motivational speaker, and the moral wouldn’t be so low. When you have a good leader people will follow, and do more than what is asked of them.

  3. I only agree with one point you made in your blog that would be, Asst. Super. Celeste Sanchez never did her job and was never held accountable resulting in unacceptable academic standards. As far as thanking Anna Cruz for pushing this $800k plus program down the districts throat is not her place to do so. In addition, the district and staff has been left out in the dark pertaining to this unwarranted program. Furthermore, she is elected to set Policy’s and push for accountability and transparency to the constituents who placed her there not to micro- manage our children’s education. It’s obvious these board members have done neither, because you’re Anna Cruz and her puppets hired retired Celeste Sanchez for $75. hr for consulting services. Now does that make any sense at all? We as tax payers and parents are sick of all the politically motivated agenda these board members have displayed at the cost of our tax $$$$ and ignoring our children’s education. Prime example, Angel Mendez, Anna Cruz, and Oscar Medrano pushing for dual enrollment is unjust to our children’s academic success. They were pushing for AP classes to carry the same value as Honor classes. For parents who have children taking AP course should be extremely upset at these micro-managing buffoons. This process would benefit Angel Mendez consulting services (A&E consulting) to increase enrollment at local university’s he works for. Angel Mendez and the others who pushed for this item are not looking out for our children’s best interest, just their personnel again. I agree with all the previous bloggers that say, Anna, Must Go 2015!!!!! I’m not voting for her and several other tax payers feel the same!

Ok, Yliana with a “Y!” You can come out of your shell now. This has to be you since you were the only one babbling about dual enrollment and AP. Watch your words because parents are going to want to know which BAFOONS changed policy with regards to dual/ap. All fingers will point to you and your cronies. How dare you allege Mendez wants to keep things the same for his personal agenda. What about you? You’re the one pushing for the change. I’m sure your buddy T. Servellon’s son is going to benefit from this change. Let me guess, her son the Senior took AP classes and now his mommy wants AP to weigh more than Dual to help his ranking?? The community is watching. It’s so funny that you act like you know so much yet you are so clueless. You really need to go back to school and get your doctorate because that certificate you have is just not doing anything for you. You’re such a wannabe Supe. Lord help us all! Actually you got that backwards. Mendez’ kid takes dual enrollment courses and wants to assert his kid gets all the advantages she can. Advanced Placement courses are nationally recognized/accepted by universities and are tied to scholarships. With dual enrollment you automatically get the college credit when a B or above is earned. A student who enrolls in AP courses must pass an exam that is administered to all students across the nation in order to receive college credit for the course. There is a significant difference and students should be rewarded.

Why do people immediately blame board members for bad or ill advised decisions Mr. Limon makes? I bet they didn’t know about it until that day, because in the larger scope of things, like running a school district, a speech doesn’t really matter.
But Mr. Limon should not have put the board members in the position of taking criticism for something he alone was responsible for. He needs to think of others, especially his bosses, when he makes controversial decisions that may backfire and reflect on the board.
I support Medrano, Cruz, Mendez, Padilla, and Leal no matter what Tony Limon does.

Instead of operating on blind faith for one faction or the other, why not say you will support the group that is open and transparent about all of their dealings. During the previous administration when Chuy was allowed to ramble on during public comments for half an hour was lunacy. To say that Padilla and his crew is great no matter what, is loony as well.
Board members should stay out of day to day administrative decisions of the superintendent, period. Not just this one, but ANY superintendent. If they continue to meddle and micromanage the district, there will be nothing but problems.
We have too many finger pointers that want to have their way and not enough cooperative spirit.
If you don’t have children attending the SBCISD, you should not be a board member. Period!

Why does it matter where a keynote speaker takes his children? I swear you all focus on and try to argue over the pettiest things. He came in to be a speaker. It doesn’t matter where his kids go. Get over it.

Now I do agree he wasn’t very motivational at all. Also, his “facts” seemed sort of outrageous. Incoming freshman classes are about 750. Those kids still graduate 500-600 kids and gateway is graduating about 60-80 a year. It seems a little misguided.

I am just happy he wasn’t up there selling cd’s or passing the “offering” to collect.

To improve instruction, he needs to get out of the way. What has he accomplished? While he was on suspension the grades improved. There are so many irregularities in the system that only an exclusive number of people get raises even with or without degrees, people steal and no reprimand because a board member protects him, sexual offenders get paid while not working; you can go and on……the one that really irks me is the Lemon asking teachers to change grades for his friends kids, Thank Padilla, Mendez, Cruz, and Medrano for bring him back.

While I have put this Limon issue on the shelf for close examination, I am appauld at your general unsubstantuated accusations . . grades improved in Limon’s absence, select employees got pay raises, board members protecting employee indiscretions, asking teachers to change grades, etc. Unless you’re willing to step forward with specifics, you need to refrain from your venomous, shouting “fire” in a crowded theater comments. As for paying sexual offenders while not working, I understand that is school district policy for anyone “accused” of a crime. Sorry, but that’s the way it is in my country . . the good old USA. Must be different in YOUR country.

I am sorry to do this and normally I just gloss over misspelled words but this time I just had to say something…..

The correct spelling is “appalled” not “appauld”.

The 1st time I read it I thought you meant applaud. It took a second reading of your comment to understand what you meant.

Having said that, I agree 100% with your comment. People need to stop complaining here with rumors, allegations, and third-party hearsay hoping that the receiving end of their commentary read their comment.

If you have a real concern or complaint show up at the commission and school board meetings and voice them.

Finally, if anybody has a recording of the preacher preaching or promoting his religious church at this school sponsored event, please post it here. Instilling religion into a school sponsored event or function is a violation of the “Separation of Church and State”

You are right Danny Crane, it would be a violation of separation of church and state. I would also like to see the proof to those accusations. I think this preacher has enough common sense to know about that, but there is always that percentage of people that have to make a positive thing turn negative. From what I know he was a guest speaker, attended SBCISD, and is an example of a successful San Benito native.

Two cents, please be advised that there is evidence, notarized statements of all accusations, even a statement from a board member saying that the parents don’t need to know this. There are police reports about theft that have been swept under the rug. You can put your head in the sand if you want, but when something happens to your child remember this response.

  4. This is the result of voting for the slate of Arnold Padilla, Angel Mendez and Oscar Medrano, these guys preached for change and accountability. What did we really get? Politicians with their personal agendas to bring Limon back and fulfill all their political favors. So don’t be surprised Limon paid a preacher $1000 for a 20min speech to push his church. This is a joke from election time to lemon’s 2 yr contract extension. We must change all this nonsense, so election 2015 ANNA CRUZ MOST GO!!!!!

You say he was “preaching”, but i’d like to know where you got that information from. What was he preaching, since you say he was? You are too quick to assume things you don’t even know. The preacher gave a motivational speech, doesn’t mean he was preaching to go to his church. You’re saying that in order to have a motivational speaker come to talk, he first has to have his kids attend a school from the district? You and those other negative comments about him “preaching” and not having his kids attend are just plain STUPID!
