Col. Robertson topic of ‘Window to the Past’

Staff Writer

The San Benito Historical Society will host its Window to the Past event on Tuesday, June 10, for a special installment that has many in the community intrigued.

The event will feature two experts making a presentation on the life of San Benito founder Col. Samuel Arthur Robertson. The speakers at the event will be Rick Bryant of Alba, Texas, who is the owner of Robertson’s Winchester rifle, and Allan Harl Thomas of Hammond, Louisiana, who is Robertson’s great-nephew.

“Allan (Thomas) is the speaker, and he’s got a PowerPoint presentation,” Bryant said Tuesday. “I just saw it, and it’s really impressive. A lot of work has gone into it. It covers the life and times of Col. Sam, the founding of San Benito and everything right on up to when he passed away in 1938.”
