NEWS Staff Report
The San Benito Lady ’Hounds will host Harlingen High in a one-game, winner-takes-all softball playoff matchup on Thursday, April 24.
After dispatching Weslaco, 9-0, in the last game of the season on Friday, San Benito now stands at 24-4 overall and 14-2 in 31-5A play. The Lady ’Hounds also secured their fourth consecutive district title – a first in the softball program’s history – and a chance at repeating and exceeding last year’s state tournament-qualifying achievement, which was a first for a Rio Grande Valley squad.
Lady 1’Hounds skipper Elias Martinez confirmed that San Benito will face the Lady Cards at 7 p.m. at Lady ’Hounds Stadium on Thursday.

You gotta love the interim super, school board, ad/hc, and school admin approving the move of a math teacher to pe coach so that he can have more time to address his new promoted football position. Whatever happened to academics first, athletics second?
