San Benito High School wrestler Amancio Vasquez competed at the State Wrestling Tournament in February.
Vasquez lost by pins from Wyatt Alvis of Arlington Martin High School and Weston Croen of Flower Mound High School.
He qualified for state competition after advancing to the fourth round at the regional tourney by defeating Gustavo Tijerina from San Antonio McArthur, 5-3.
Vasquez fell to Trey Montenero at regionals by a score of 6-1 but placed fourth at the tournament and secured state qualification.
“Congratulations to Amancio on a great effort and qualifying to State at Garland, Texas,” said Boys Wrestling Coach Rudy Quilantan.
