A presentation will be held at the San Benito CISD Parental Involvement Office at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, in which the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be discussing distracted driving.
“Our Law Enforcement Liaison Gary Parker, who is a former DPS (Department of Public Safety) officer, he will be doing a presentation regarding distracted driving,” said Octavio Saenz, Public Information Officer for TxDOT. “One of the things that he stresses a lot is the fact that texting, talking on the phone and also impaired driving can be extremely dangerous and could also lead to a tragedy.”
According to Saenz, distracted driving is considered anything that takes your mind off of the wheel, a subject that will be elaborated on during the one-hour presentation on Monday.
