Merchants, residents join forces to sponsor needy children

While many people spend their days leading up to Christmas buying gifts for family and friends, there are a few individuals who dedicate their time to making the holidays a magical experience for the less fortunate.

In 2000, Evelon Dale of Harlingen came up with the idea of creating an event in which she, along with her friends and family, could make Christmas a little brighter for those in need.

“I’ve always been very committed to the Rio Grande Valley and the people of the Valley,” Dale said.
