What is amazing to everyone in San Benito, is that June and Julian can continue to spend taxpayer dollars. I sure hope someone has called the authorities to look at ALL THE MONEY these two have spent. On another note, notice what company was hired at last night’s board meeting… None other than the one who took them to dinner. Just ask them .. Go ahead… Ask them.

Those high-school athletes you’re talking about also bring in $$$$ to thier local school districts.

Our local school districts spend more tax dollars per high-school athlete than per high-school math student. As the globalized economy demands higher-order skills to compete down the line, it’s worth reevaluating what is spent on high school athletics. If sports were not central to the mission of our high schools, then what would be?
Athletics in Texas has succeeded in distracting not just students but entire communities. As athletic fields became the cultural centers of towns across America, our place in the world economy has steadily declined.
In 2012, after the state threatened to shut down Premont Independent School District for financial mismanagement and academic failure, they suspended all sports—including football.
Imagine, for a moment, if we transferred our obsessive intensity about high-school sports—the rankings, the trophies, the ceremonies, the pride—to high-school academics.
93 percent of South Korean students graduate from high school, compared with just 77 percent of American students—only about 2 percent of whom receive athletic scholarships to college.
Is it time rethink what our local schools spend on athletics, especially football??

Any word on whether Athletic Director / Head Coach Spencer Gantt will be on the Agenda for this “Special Meeting”

Rumor has it he met with the interim super weeks ago before the football season was over asking to be released so that he can start looking for a job somewhere else.

Whether this is true or not, the sooner he is out, the sooner San Benito can get a new athletic director / head coach lined up – one whose heart is truly in it.

Remember, in May 2013 it was confirmed that he had applied for a position in Del Rio. If his heart was in San Benito, this would not have occurred.

    Get him out.

San Benito is not in need of a soft political up north coach with no sense of loyalty and heart; San Benito definitely doesn’t need a coach that isn’t invested 100% into the program – from top to bottom and bottom to top.

Soft political up north coach or a coach like Manny. Easy pick. And up north coaches aren’t like they use to. There aren’t any more Tommy Roberts around. It would be nice to have a coach with two round things between his legs though. A coach that supervises, motivates, instills. A coach that builds, not just gets by. A coach that appreciates and works, not take for granted and delegate down to male and female director, coordinators, and whatever else you want to label them coaches. Waste of money, time, and a lack of precision and a lack of getting it done.

The Evans group has got to go too. They’ve had enough time to prove they are winners and have failed to do so.

The coaches that have been around that have failed to step up year after year after year – they gotta go too!

Junior high coaches that aren’t committed to their players, work ethic, grades, do whatever it takes – all these things lacking, get rid of them too.

    1. It’s not the coach it’s the kids their not 100% in it. It’s (complicated )but the greyhounds have not had a team since 2004 that the players where al in it You talk about a porterhouse steak’s for every player after they win a game and you can bet you’ll have all of them in it. Preach loyalty and sweat (complicated) conditioning during the off season and you’ll get them all in 100% . Hand books for them to read on the Glory Teams of Texas High School football teams and you’ll get 100%. Remember theses are just kids you have to turn into MEN. High-school football is more physical and faster now!!!
