The San Benito City Commission approved an $11.6 million general fund budget for FY 2013-2014 on Tuesday that includes salary increases for all employees, but designed primarily to benefit hourly wage earners employed by the city.

With implementation of the budget on Oct. 1, the first day of the new fiscal year, employees will receive a 60-cent across-the-board raise, Mayor Joe H. Hernandez said. “The commission feels we should really consider our hourly workers, and this action should help them better provide for their families,” he added.

        CORRECTION…to prior post….

I have been alerted that while I was out of town “Cameron County Court at Law No. 1 Judge Arturo McDonald moved the trial from Sept. 16 to Sept. 26 after prosecutors said they had another case set for trial on Sept. 16, Melissa Zamora, the DA’s spokeswoman, said”

Sorry, chalk it up to wishful thinking!. When I am a road warrior, SBNEWSPAPER.COM is my main daily read.

Come election day I will do something…again, but it takes more than my vote. It also takes a qualified person not just anybody else. I voted against these clowns, but the rest of san benito votes for stupid. Sad but true.

Instead of raises they should fix the street of this city matamoros has better streets than us even cameron park so instead of giving workers a raise maybe if all of them worked not stand around and watch oters work then maybe some work would be done.

how bout instead of getting raises all the time, they use the money to fix the streets. How come when sb gets grants/ money they think about a pay raise? you don’t deserve it!
