San Benito CISD Interim Superintendent of Schools Alfonso Obregón confirmed on Friday that Miller Jordan Middle School Principal Mary Alice Martinez will be moved to the Gateway to Graduation Academy.

“Since June we have been talking about getting another principal,” Obregón said. “We have about four different schools (Gateway Academy, Amador Rodriguez Boot Camp, Darrell Hester Juvenile Justice Center and the Positive Redirection Center) under Principal Rolando Guerra. (Martinez) had indicated that she may consider asking for a transfer so we could start the process of getting an additional principal.”

Stop witching back and forth. Stop crying. It’s pretty simple. If parents do their part, children will do theirs. If teachers do their part, students will do theirs. Adults remember. No matter the administrator or educator, a child who is guided, driven, and led to greatness, will eventually get there. Nobody is perfect. Don’t use a person’s mistakes as an excuse to point the finger or use it as blame for somebody else’s misfortune. There are places in far worse situations than SB’s that suck it up and get it done without the witching and crying. Good or bad, right side or wrong side, straight or crooked, wide or narrow, its time for a reality check, a morality check, a suck it up check. Shame on all the board members, I repeat, shame on all the board members, shame on those administrators, shame on those educators, for not being focused, keep your eye on the prize, for not have the spheres to get something positive and productive done, actions speak louder than words, not getting it done, not coming together, you are all in the same boat, stand together, rise up, get it done, enough is enough, if you want the spotlight, use it for something constructive not destructive, something positive not negative. morals, principles, respect, integrity, decisiveness, productivity.

Filli- Rafaela- You continue to put Miller Jordan down yet during that time you mention it was the only secondary campus that met AYP. This year it Met Standard, something not even IDEA can say. I don’t know how much money you settled for but whatever the amount it was too much. If it was really a matter of principle why did you settle? Don’t put your follow teachers down because they did better. You yourself said it was your scores, but I also remember “happenings” going on in your room that the principal was concerned enough to recommend your non-renewal.

WTH, the incident that occurred in Brownsville with the former choir teacher from BC, happened after he left BC, and not while he was a teacher. The justice system failed to protect that child, not Mr. Limon. He was released on bail like any other defendant, which has nothing to do with Limon. Nice try, attempting to blame him, but he had nothing to do with it. But, don’t let facts get in the way of your distorted view of reality and your penchant to blame Mr. Limon for incidents at BISD, the drought, and JFK’s assassination.

  1. OK @ Nancy ,Laura and R. S B . Did you all also read the paper and hear the news in Brownsville about the teacher at B. C. Well he did it again at the Brownsville ISD was he reported to TEA maybe not cause he got a job with BISD Who is in title to report this ? Yes Mr. Limon and he says he cares about kids..And if it was a family member of your then WHAT?.. You people don’t even know what really is going on you all just like to talk…You tell it like if you all sit with the board and really know what goes on….Who ever got raisers in the district if the old board only gave LIMON >>>>>Why because he would cover up lots of things that would happen they didn’t care about anybody else. Now you can say favors, favors, favors. Jim.

WTH, get your facts right. He wasn’t working in Brownsville but was arrested as part of the same investigation SBCISD turn over to Harlingen PD. It involved additional students he had contacted in Brownsville during that same time.

Filli, talks a good game, but I taught with her at Miller Jordan before the principal recommended her termination. Her classroom discipline and instruction lacked. She even told other staff how she was going to set up the district. She eventually sued the district. She also had sued her previous employer before the district. She can’t seem to keep a job, but she sure talks a good game.

I’m sorry, Selena, you are mistaken. And I never taught with anyone named Selena. I’m sure that if you taught there you were one of those favorite. Or you were hired cause you have family connections in administration. Make no mistake about it, I’ve always been one to stand up for others and myself. The principal (who allowed drug use on campus with a slap on the hand, failed to discipline students with weapons, and was Limon’s favorite) recommended my termination for being absent too many days (which I wouldn’t have been on if they had provided accommodations), even though I was on Family Medical Leave, such termination was a federal violation, and the other reason was for having low scores, although my scores were the same as teachers who had been there for years. I never said I was going to set up the school district. Those are rumors from the ineffective teachers who did not like me pointing out their failure to educate students. They did that on their own because Limon and Medrano never responded to my concerns and thought that by not renewing my contract I was going to just go away and never speak of it. Not a single attorney would take my case, but I filed the lawsuit myself because it violated my rights and even though three different attorneys represented the school, they couldn’t get the claim dismissed, not even on summary judgement. I know that what is being done at the school district and especially at Miller Jordan is inappropriate and violates the rights of all students who do not receive an appropriate education. You didn’t mention that I settled the lawsuit for a mere fraction of what I could have gotten since they not only refused to provide me with reasonable accommodations because I have a disability but violated my rights under the Federal Medical Leave Act and in doing so, I also made sure that a ‘request for special accommodations’ form was to be placed on the district’s website and made available to all employees so that they do not have to go through the same turmoil I went through. As of this date, they have not placed the form on the website, I did speak to the attorney who has assured me they are developing the form to meet all legal requirements, so it is pending. So before you speak, know the truth. And furthermore, my evaluations were proficient and exceeds each time. And yes, I did have four jobs while I was attending college from 2004 to 2008, but it was the only way to ensure I received my education, which by the way, I graduated magna cum laude with a GPA of 3.88, two Associates, one general and the other in Teaching in Middle School and a BS in Biology within that time frame. My life hasn’t been perfect, but I do know what is right and what is wrong. To you, it may just be a game, but to me it’s what’s right. And I stand up for what I believe in. And just because I’m temporarily disabled doesn’t mean I’m going to let a wrong be allowed.

Is there another place to buy the school uniforms besides CHUY’S? I don’t want to give my business to these type of people.

Looks like that crazy man Chuy got his wish. He sure is powerful with the majority four. A campus of no more than 30 students with a principal that makes over 80K, . paying two superintendents 320K, paying a law firm over 150 K for a witch hunt, paying the Crazy man over 98K for useless tablets, giving SIG insurance a100K commission, buying a reading program that board president wants for over 600K…. That is where our tax dollars are going…The traveling board will probably spend another 50K on their family vacations, sorry I meant conferences they attend during the year.

I worked with Mrs Martinez this past year and congratulate her on the effort that he put forth trying to change the face of Miller Jordan. He was always very professional; as long as you did your job. Those who are complaining obviously did not do what they were supposed to. Thank you Mrs Martinez.

Mrs. Martinez is an outstanding individual as well as a principal. The real issue is the entire make-up of MIller Jordan, where are the teachers that have issues or ineffective but have long term contracts are housed. Although some have retired, some are rehired and some are still there. Then they hire everyone that is related to someone in administration. I mean, even the Science Dean of Instruction didn’t know science when she was first hired. I am sure that Mrs. Martinez did her best to work with what she had. There are a few outstanding teachers at Miller Jordan but keep to themselves for fear of retaliation. Come to think of it, SBCISD really needs a complete overhaul in Administration because 1) they are top-heavy, and 2) there is no communication between departments, each one runs as a stand-alone. So, to the school board and the interim superintendent: playing musical chairs with principals at Miller is not the answer. Making sure that teachers and staff are effective, collaborate, and not just jump through hoops and play games and say its collaboration, will make a bigger difference than just wishing it will turn out right with the next principal. Teachers there already know that if they dig their heels deep enough the principal will fail, and a new one will be assigned, and the cycle will continue. Students, then, are not receiving the education they are entitled to. Also, having the TA’s do the students’ with special needs classwork is not the answer either. That’s why they score so low. Plus, absolutely no teaching was going on it that department. Maybe with the teacher change, it will work, but only if he/she doesn’t succumbs to the peer pressure.

You know I am getting tired of reading about this or that ,People of San Benito you guy need to shut up and let people do there job , Now if you think you can do a better job then what they are doing then you run for school board and you try to do it better ,When did the employees of the district get money raises or anything,This people are looking out for the best of the children and employees ,The other board would only give Limon a raise that is why he is getting so much money remember he didn’t run them schools alone , So if you think you can do better then you run and see how the people will talk about you cause that is all San Benito knows talk about Ridiculous

Do not worry, WTH, there are good people planning to run for the trustees positions opening in 2014. They will do a better job, too, if the least they do is conduct their affairs openly and honestly.
