Captain Loren W. Reeves, age 57, formerly of Bogata Texas died on Saturday, August 2 in Abuja, Nigeria.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16 at 2 p.m. in the Johntown Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Dillon officiating under the direction Wood Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to services.
Captain Reeves was born on May 16, 1956 in Oklahoma the son of Samuel Henry and Verna Jean Hanning Reeves. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a former policeman on South Padre Island. He had worked for SEACOR Marine for many years as a merchant ship captain and had been all over the world in his travels.
He is survived by four daughters Anna Otgero of Mt. Pleasant, Loren Reeves and Essie Reeves, both of Bogata and Lyzzette Gaytan of Paris and a special nephew Zach Reeves of Nebraska and 10 grandchildren.
