RIO HONDO – The San Benito Lady ’Hounds softball team has become a symbol for the entire Rio Grande Valley to support.

While not necessarily rivals, the 32-3A Rio Hondo Lady Bobcats softball team has jumped on the 31-5A Lady ’Hounds bandwagon.

“I think the entire Valley community as a whole is on the bandwagon, and we’re just waiting to see the next great thing they can do,” said Lady Bobcats coach Brett Esparza. “They are an absolutely wonderful team and well-coached. There are tons of great athletes on that team who are very confident. I think these young ladies have changed the culture of Valley softball. I just can’t think of anybody in the Valley who wouldn’t be on their bandwagon right now. They’ve done an absolutely great job, and we hope to see them go all the way to the end.”
