One is in and the other is out.
During the special board meeting of the San Benito CISD Board of Trustees on Thursday, May 23, trustees voted 4-3 in favor of placing Antonio G. Limón on paid administrative leave as the district’s superintendent. Also, the board – in another split decision – voted 4-3 in favor of hiring former Robstown ISD superintendent Alfonso Obregon to serve as SBCISD’s interim super.
“I went ahead and contacted TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) and I asked them to give me recommendations,” Board President Yliana Gonzalez (formerly Yliana G. Rodriguez) said after the meeting on the process in which Obregon was selected. “I asked them to give me recommendations of retired superintendents, or just superintendents that they would recommend here within Region 1 and the San Antonio region, Corpus Christi region. That was one of the names that stood out with his extensive experience.”
“So I think that would be something that the district could work with,” Gonzalez added. “It is on a temporary basis as an interim. That’s what an interim entails. It’s just a temporary arrangement.”

Connection between the INTERIM SUPT and SOMEONE? What a surprise!! Mr. Editor, please investigate. Thank you in advance.
Is anyone on the board..or their supporters in anyway related to Obregon???..please investigate!!!…i heard that another employee R. Saldana..was the interim supt…unless along the line He will become next supt…and using an out of town former supt…just for show..since Summer is near they think ppl will move on and forget…ha! ….
MR EDITOR…KEEP YOUR INVESTIGATING/Reporting on the SBCISDIstrict…especially during summer..they will think that no one is watching….ps..did u know u have one of their relatives working w you.?..
Once again, I say, this entire action by the board smells of an ILLEGAL MEETING. Who authorized anyone from the board to call TASB to inquire about a replacement for Limon prior to action being taken by the entire board to replace him? Were they able to get an opinion out of TASB after 5/6:00 on Thursday evening, when the board met to discuss suspending him? Highly doubtful. The four who voted in favor of suspending Limon went into that meeting knowing Obregon would be the choice.
The action taken by the person(s) who contacted TASB prior to the entire board meeting, is the same as Yliana authorizing the insurance letter without board approval. Dr. Cruz, Mr. Medrano, Mr. Leal, PLEASE contact the TEA and report this illegal conduct. These four are meeting illegally and negating your vote which citizens of this community empowered you to make on their behalf. PLEASE file requests individually to TEA, asking them to investigate and report any discussion or debate that occurred in executive session on this matter, a violation of the Texas Open Meetings Act. This community cannot endure another year like this!
Waste of taxpayers money. Poor fiscal activities.
We all know who is pulling the strings , and he didn’t even have to get elected. It’s sad to to see all this happening in San Benito , no wonder everyone thinks we’re a joke . Well the only good thing is that the Lady Hounds won. Wish them luck .
She called TASB and TASB recommended this gentleman, TASB does not recommend vendors why would we think they would recommend this retired supt? Come on!!!
Yliana finally avails herself for comment. Finally! Calling TASB is one of the few legitimate actions these four co-conspirators have undertaken and can explain rationally, so she’s front and center to tell all who will listen. But every other questionable or transparently bogus action they have taken — the insurance letter and lack of authorizing a follow up investigation; repeated attempts to harass Limon over the past twelve months; replacing the legal team with her paramour, Eduardo “Tony” Torres — and she’s nowhere to be found to answer to the community she represents. These corrupt and incompetent four have given us transparency, all right. So clear is their corrupt and vengeful motives.
Her friend is INFAMOUS for calling TASB! On everything! Talk about clueless attorneys! So, it doesn’t surprise me that she would call either.
