A San Benito man was arrested on Saturday morning after exposing himself to a woman while inside his vehicle on West Business 77.

According to a San Benito Police Department press release, a female driver, described by authorities as being in her 40s, said she first observed the man while the two were inside their vehicles at a stop light on the intersection of West Business 77 and Bonner Street.

The man, who police identified as 29-year-old Ramiro Medrano, Jr., was reportedly driving a gold colored Chrysler Sebring and, at one point, allegedly reached into his shorts and exposed his penis.

Police reported that Medrano allegedly displayed his penis to the woman and began masturbating until the light turned green. When the suspect’s vehicle proceeded eastbound on Business 77, the woman reportedly followed the man and called police to report the incident.

“He led cops on a brief pursuit at a slow speed,” said SBPD Detective Rogelio Banda, Jr. “He was going about 30 miles per hour [but] he wouldn’t stop.”

The suspect’s vehicle then turned on Hinkley Street, which leads to a dead end. Banda said that’s when Medrano attempted to reverse but was blocked in by police.

Medrano allegedly showed signs of impairment and had several 24 ounce cans of beer located inside his vehicle, Banda said.

“The officers made contact with the complainant, who provided a statement to investigators,” Banda further remarked. “The lady was pretty upset, who wouldn’t be?”

Medrano was placed under arrest and arraigned by Judge Benjamin Yudesis, who set the suspect’s bond at $27,500. Medrano, who according to police had prior arrests consisting of possession of marijuana, theft and DWI, is currently incarcerated at the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito.
