If the San Benito Greyhounds are looking for a way to bounce back from a difficult loss last week, they won’t have to look much further than their upcoming opponent.

The PSJA North Raiders are coming off an impressive victory of their own, one in which they racked up over 500 yards rushing.

The Greyhounds are 1-2 in District 31-5A this year and are hoping they can still win a district title; a win against the Raiders this week would go a long way for their campaign.

PSJA North, currently sitting at second place in the district and coming off a blowout rivalry victory, will be full of confidence when they step on the field at Bobby Morrow Stadium. The Greyhounds’ objective will be shutting down the running attack of the Raiders since their passing game only mustered 12 yards last week.

The Greyhound defense is coming off a performance they would rather forget after allowing over 500 yards of offense last week. Despite the poor showing, San Benito only lost by six points, which is a good indication that their offense is finally clicking after a rocky start to the season.

Perhaps the bigger issue for the ’Hounds will be putting together a consistent offensive attack against a team with a strong defense of their own. Arturo Coronado, who is the most versatile scorer San Benito has, will be leaned upon heavily in this one after his two-touchdown performance last week nearly carried the Greyhounds to a comeback victory.

Coronado, along with defensive studs Rene Chavez, Jr. and Adrian Zuniga are facing perhaps their most important district game so far as they try to avoid falling to 1-3 in 31-5A play.

If the Greyhounds can take solace in anything, it’s that they are still undefeated at home this year, a winning streak they’ll have to keep alive if they hope to win another district championship.

I support the Hounds 100% win or lose and i’ll always support them no matter wat the situation is with the coaches but hounds go out on friday night and play your best game

  1. Maybe a Rocky start is just what the Grehounds needed. Look at what Rocky Balboa did when he really wanted the title. We aare talking about 16 and 17 years olds right? If they lose we’ll blame the coaches. I’am sure it will be ok with them. How did this Happen? You fans just go out there and have fun.
