McALLEN – In the chaotic 31-5A district, where any team can seemingly beat the other on a given night, the San Benito Greyhounds have been able to ride their tenacious defense to a 1-1 record leading up to their matchup with the Warriors of McAllen Nikki Rowe.
The Greyhound D is coming off a game where they forced four turnovers and accounted for five sacks against a usually explosive offense.
San Benito will make their second trip to McAllen this season, this time to battle it out with the Warriors, a team coming off an upset victory over the Memorial Mustangs who defeated the ’Hounds just two weeks ago. If recent games have revealed anything, it’s that this San Benito defense can shut down the best of offenses.
In four games this season, the Greyhounds have allowed a grand total of 30 points, including only seven last week to a team that scored 62 the week before. “It’s all about believing in ourselves,” said senior defensive captain Rene Chavez, Jr. “If we keep believing in ourselves and keep playing with heart, the sky is the limit for us.”

The offense better put points on the board against Nikki Rowe if not the defense will have to again
