A man who local law enforcement authorities were searching for after he reportedly walked into the Cameron County Annex Building on Wednesday and allegedly threatened to commit suicide has admitted himself into a mental health facility, said Assistant Operations Chief Michael Galvan of the San Benito Police Department.

It was at approximately 12:15 p.m. on August 29 when police were notified of the incident, in which the man in question is accused of walking into the indigent healthcare office located in the annex building and shouting while wielding a steak knife.

“He was yelling that he was going to kill himself,” Galvan said Wednesday. “Everyone in the indigent office was out to lunch, so he went to the tax office and started yelling in there.”
