This investigation is far from over.
San Benito police officers discovered Thursday that more items were taken from a local church, where a woman who claimed to be homeless was charged with the crime of theft.
Janet Castro, 22, is currently incarcerated at the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito with a bond set for $10,000 after she allegedly broke in and
ransacked Mission Cristo Rey Church in San Benito early Wednesday morning.
Items including musical instruments valued near $1,000 were reported missing from the church at the time of Castro’s arrest. Castro, however, was detained when police received a tip at 4:54 a.m. Thursday morning as to the whereabouts of other stolen items.
