Bump. Set. Hit.
Future Lady ’Hound volleyball athletes will soon be hitting the courts at a clinic to help sharpen their volleyball skills.
The clinic is open to all incoming females attending Berta Cabaza, Miller Jordan and Riverside Middle School, grades 7 and 8.
The clinic for seventh graders will be held during the week of August 6-8, Monday through Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
Eighth graders may report on August 9 and 10, Thursday and Friday from 5-8 p.m. and August 11 from 9 a.m. to noon.
In a letter about the clinic, Head Volleyball Coach Ruby Medina said, “It is very important students attend this clinic to prepare and help train themselves as future volleyball players.”
Drills for the camp include passing, setting, attacking and serving.
In order for athletes to participate, they must come dressed, ready to play with the proper attire and shoes as well as fill out a waiver signed by their parents or guardians.
Both seventh and eighth grade clinics will be held at the San Benito High School Gymnasium.
It’s also another exciting time for volleyball as practice begins Monday, Aug. 6 for the San Benito Lady Hound varsity and sub-varsity squads.
All girls that are interested in participating must have a physical completed prior to the first day of practice. Again, girls must also bring their own appropriate workout attire.
Freshman athletes will report to Veteran’s Memorial Academy while upperclassmen will report to San Benito High School.
Seniors will have their first team meeting at 8 a.m. with practice following until 11 a.m. The second part of practice will be from 1-3 p.m.
Juniors and sophomores will have their team meeting at 10:30 a.m. followed immediately by a practice ending at 2 p.m. The second part will last from 3-5 p.m.
Freshmen will have their team meeting at 10:30 a.m. directly followed by practice until 2 p.m. Part two of their practice begins at 3 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m.
