Roberto C. De Los Santos, 83, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on July 15, 2012.
He was born on March 26, 1929 to Celestino De Los Santos and Trinidad (Cavazos) De Los Santos.
Robert was intelligent, witty, outgoing, kind and a courteous man. He lived his life to the fullest. As a young man he was a golden gloves boxer at Stephenville, TX, where he worked for Union Pacific Railroad. He served in combat in the Korean War with the U.S. Army in the 40th INF-DIV-Heavy Mort. Co. Robert also worked as the first Hispanic District Manager for Allstate Insurance Company. His insurance designation include CPCU, CLU & LUTCF. He was Rookie of the Year, Key Man and Million Dollar Round Table recipient. He had an outstanding and successful career with Allstate and was selected to facilitate the company’s expansion to Puerto Rico. Robert settled in San Benito and was actively involved in the community. He loved barbecuing for his family, fishing, hunting, playing golf and listening to country music.
Robert is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Bertha; daughters, Sylvia Migoni; Norma (Kevin) Saenz; sons, Robert (Lori); Richard (Margo); and Raymond (Letty) De Los Santos; brothers Celestino and Alfonso De Los Santos and sisters Ofelia Villalon, Odelia Serrata, Dora Rubio and Minerva Moraida. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Miranda, Erica, Robbie, Alex, Kevin, Mikey, Kyle, Raymond, Lorenzo, Damian, Nicole; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He will be remembered for his love of life and his family. Three cheers to you Dad. We love you.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the San Benito Funeral Home beginning with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. A mass of resurrection will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in San Benito at 11:00 a.m.
