San Benito police arrested a Harlingen man Thursday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and her 12-year-old daughter.

Detective Rogelio Banda of the San Benito Police Department stated in a press release that 29-year-old Hugo Mario Salinas, Jr. was considered the “aggressor” in the incident according to several eyewitnesses.

At 1:26 a.m. on July 5, officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the 100 block of Wild Olive Dr. in an apartment parking lot. There, the officers made contact with Salinas, who had visible injuries to his face. Police also spoke with the subject’s 34-year-old girlfriend, who displayed injuries to her face resulting from an assault.
