A Los Fresnos woman was killed while three were hospitalized in a car accident that occurred approximately 20 miles south of the Sarita checkpoint, according to authorities from the Department of Public Safety in Corpus Christi.
Beatrice Cruz Garcia, 44, of Los Fresnos was pronounced dead at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen on Saturday, at 9:15 p.m., after the rear right tire to her 1998 Ford Explorer blew out, authorities said.
Garcia was reportedly traveling northbound at about 8:30 p.m. when her tire blew out. DPS officials said she overcorrected and veered right, reportedly causing the car to roll over. She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, DPS officials said.

The checkpoint was just over 1 mile north of the accident site.
This woman was wearing her seatbelt. Since I was the first one to get to the vehicle after the accident.
This woman was wearing her seatbelt. I know this because I was the first one to the vehicle after the accident happened.
