After being absent from the state playoffs for nine years, the San Benito Greyhounds hope to keep the momentum going into the area round.
Friday night, the ’Hounds defeated Edinburg in a seven-inning thriller that earned the ’Hounds their first trip to the area round since 2003.
San Benito is now set to face Laredo Alexander as they defeated Mission in a one-game showdown, 7-6. Laredo’s record stands at 26-3 while the ‘Hounds stand at 19-8 after turning their season around and earning their spot in the state playoffs.
Game one of the three game series will take place at Alice High School Friday at 7 p.m. Game two is set to be played Saturday at 11 a.m. at Alice High School as well. Should a game three be necessary, it will begin 30 minutes after game two has ended. The winner of the series moves on to the regional quarterfinals of the state playoffs.
