Alan GuzmanThe San Benito Greyhounds became the first team in nine years to win a bi-district title on Friday after defeating the Edinburg Bobcats, 8-7.

Pitcher Greg Rodriguez helped lead the team to victory with back to back strikeouts and multiple no-hit innings. In the end, though, it was sophomore ace Johnny Garza who scored the winning strikeout.

Also coming up big for the team were Jacob Puente, Jerry Arizpe and Homar Longoria, each of whom scored two runs apiece. Puente and Longoria brought in two runs each while at bat and also scored themselves a base hit.

I hate to say it but Hounds will lose this next game. They get satisfied with these district and bi-district titles, unfortunately. The coach is not that good, these players he has have played since t-ball and made it pretty far in PONY league. As soon as the seniors graduate this year they will go back to having a losing season again. We need a good baseball coach.

Sounds to me like somebody is a little mad because their relative didn’t get recognition. (Galvan) As for the editor I’m sure you were there. Or better yet maybe we should hand the bat to Galvan, maybe he can take a swing at publishing a CORRECT article. Don’t criticize the world. To make a change you have to be the change. Don’t even come at me with” that’s not my job” crap because I’m sure there have been times when your job isn’t done correctly. Unless I’m mistaken, and you Galvan are perfect. But I think that would be INCORRECT of me to assume. Nobody’s perfect!

Mr. Medrano is always visible at all the school events. Thank you sir! Where was June and the others on the this one? Yliana Rodriguez showed up and left after 3 innings. 3 innings in 3 years! Not a good example!

Congratulatioins Greyhounds on another succesful accomplishment Bi -District Champs!
As for this article this is very poor edting Because here we are showing players that got recognition and others that scored didn’t get any recognition. We need to recognize all players for there accomplishments not only the ones we now we favor. Because there were several players that had awsome hits and brought many runs. (Please ask the coach to give you the correct batting statistics). As for the editor of this article u need to be present to be able to report a correct article.

You are correct, only players mentioned are the one’s that parents suck up to the coach. If you don’t help out in games or make your self noticable to coach you will never be mentioned.

Man these guys were just born to play baseball. I don’nt know how the play by play stacked up but with the look of confedence in thier eyes they could have been down 7-0 and come back to win it 8-7. There is nothing to compare against confidence when stacked up against playoff competition. Good luck on your next game.
