Authorities with the Border Patrol and Precinct 4 Cameron County Constable’s Office are investigating the smuggling of 17 illegal immigrants into the U.S.

It all began Tuesday, May 1 on Barrier Road in San Benito, where deputies with the constable’s office located a yellow Ford F-250 pickup truck in a wooded area.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the truck’s ignition had been tampered with and was also missing door panels and backseats. After running a search on the truck’s license plates, deputies learned it had been reported stolen from the McAllen area.
