San Benito Fire Marshal Henry Lopez, who was indefinitely suspended last month for reasons that remain unclear, said Tuesday that he believes he’ll be reinstated.
“I’m very confident, because this issue is even less than last time, and last time it was overturned completely,” Lopez said when asked how he felt about his chances of reinstatement. The 34-year veteran of the San Benito Fire Department (SBFD) was also referring to previous suspensions Lopez argued involved more serious allegations than what he faces today.
Such comments come after the San Benito Civil Service Commission agreed Monday to postpone the hearings in the case of the fire marshal’s indefinite suspension. The hearings are now set for 10 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, May 28-29.
