Special to the NEWS
For the first time in years, the San Benito Greyhound varsity baseball team is going to the playoffs.
It seems as if this story is already worthy of a Hollywood film as the ’Hounds turned around their season from being in last place to tied for first in District 32-5A play.
Not only do they have a shot at winning the title, but after defeating Lopez, 7-1, in Brownsville Tuesday night the ’Hounds can now say they’re going to the playoffs for the first time in over nine years.
This season has also been a drastic change from last year as they finished in the bottom two in 2011. “We’ve been able to go from last to first because of hard work, dedication, and commitment from our players,” said second-year head coach Xavier Acosta, continuing, “Great pitching, good defense, and this year we’re able to drive runs in and deliver clutch hits.”

Coach must have made them stare at the Booby Marrow picture for hours befoe heading out to the filed of dreams that can come through. You got to pitch on defense and hit on offence. Gold forever!!
