SBCISDRepresentatives from the Region One Education Service Center held a workshop in San Benito on Monday to discuss the difference in standardize testing between the TAKS and the STAAR tests.

San Benito CISD educators, members of the Board of Trustees and other officials witnessed Dr. Eduardo Cancino, Region One Deputy Director of Instruction, speak of the district’s CSCOPE curriculum and explain the key differences that students as well as teachers will be seeing in the STAAR exam and its preparations.

According to the presenters, the goal of the STAAR test is to assess critical thinking skills and 21st century skills, deeply engage teachers and students in learning, make rigorous and cognitive instruction, increase students’ achievement levels and readiness for college as well as future careers.
