The San Benito Greyhound powerlifting team made the trek to Abilene to compete in the state powerlifting meet.
The Greyhounds surprised state competitors as they performed better than initially predicted by Regional Standings.
At 123 pounds, JR Torres took sixth place after totaling 965 pounds. In the 148 pound weight class, Ernie Sandell placed sixth as well after squatting 450 pounds, benching 310 pounds, and deadlifting 500.
Julio Rivas placed 12th in the 220 pound weight class after reaching a combined total of 1,490 pounds.
