There is said to be strength in numbers, and on March 17th, Jamming Miles for Janet was certainly proof of that.
With 65 registered runners, seven authentic and enticing musical acts, and a little over 100 in spectators, the community willingly united on Saturday morning to provide a young lady with all the support and encouragement an individual could acquire.
Janet Mata, a SBHS 2010 graduate, was the original driving force in organizing the event. As a result of Mata’s charming character and inspirational persona the event managed to generate $1,144 in funds that will be donated to Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Although the event did provide attendees with the opportunity to enjoy exercise in a competitive spirit, experience great music by local hits such as Madelyn Vallejo, Southern Train, Ok Robot!, ATHP, Joe’s untitled band, Hindsight Bias, and The Blue Barn Band, the greatest result of the event was a very humbled and appreciative Mata.
