The money raised this Saturday by Ray Saldaña and other organizers of the Second Annual Diabetes Fundraiser will in truth be a benefit for most in the valley region.
All the funds collected in the event will go toward the Rio Grande Valley Diabetes Association (RGVDA) in hopes of finding preventions of the disease.
In the previous year, the walk raised an estimated 14,000 dollars, and this year the organization his hoping to not only raise more money, but have more participants at the event. “We are expecting 15,000 dollars, and are trying to get 500 people to register,” said Saldaña.
