The San Benito News has confirmed that former San Benito CISD Superintendent of Schools Joe D. Gonzalez has filed for the Place 4 City Commissioner post, currently held by Celeste Z. Sanchez who has yet to file for reelection.
Others who’ve sought to be on the May 12 ballot in the City of San Benito general election is JD Penny, who filed Monday for the Plc. 3 office currently held by Bill Elliott. As reported Saturday, Elliott has filed for reelection.
Also, San Benito CISD Plc. 2 Board Trustee Oscar De La Fuente announced this morning in an exclusive interview with the News his intentions not to seek reelection. Running for his seat thus far are Anna Cruz and Anna Llanes.
The filing deadline in both the city and school district general elections, which are set for May 12, is at 5 p.m. today. Stay tuned to sbnewspaper.com for more as the day progresses.

Hey do you have facts as to what really went on as why he was let go ? If not know just mine your own business. And if you think you can do better then you run and do a better job.People like just like to talk . So will you be running then or you not good enough to run ? Let people do as they please . Oh by the why he has my Vote……

Is this a joke? Isn’t this the same dude that was also superintendent in Donna and was let go? Oh my goodness…sorry, but not getting my vote. I think out city deserves better.
We’re in the 2012 year, and I think people need to stop bringing up events from the past that do not even relate to the current arrangement. Mr. Gonzalez is a highly respectable man, who is more than qualified to make our city a better place. So unless you know actual facts, and not just what certain political figures say, then you do not truly know his qualifications.
