San Benito Police Captain Arnold Garcia has announced his retirement after 28 years of service.

Garcia had previously been embroiled in controversial incidents that ultimately led to his reassignment from assistant chief to captain, including his highly-publicized indefinite suspension last year for allegedly engaging in political activity while in uniform, not to mention the accusations that he refused to comply with a random drug test and transported beer with his brother, San Benito Police Lieutenant Tony Garcia, using an unmarked police unit.
