chili cookoffGood chili on a chilly Saturday morning, what more could one ask for?

Throw a little good will into the mix and the San Benito Elks Lodge #1661 delivered the winningest recipe that day at its Eighth Annual Chili Cook-off and Miracle Kids of South Texas fundraiser.

The contest is held yearly as a benefit for the Miracle Kids, a nonprofit agency that provides recreational activities and resources to handicap children.

Judging Saturday’s entries, of which there were 11, were members of the San Benito News staff, including Rudy Villarreal, pressman, and Michael Rodriguez, managing editor. Assisting the judges were News writers Jacob Lopez and this reporter.
