HoundsOn Friday, Feb. 10, the San Benito Greyhound varsity track team held their first track meet at Bobby Morrow Stadium.

As of presstime, the participants who placed were San Benito varsity track athletes Brenda Lopez, 17, with first place in the two mile run; and Raphael Duenes, 16, with fourth place in the same event.

Brenda, a junior, competed in the state competition during cross country. “I want to run in college,” she said. “My coach really pushes me to be the best.”

Raphael, who is better known as “Rapha,” is said by fellow teammates to be the fastest on the team. He also performed very well in cross country, and as a junior is hoping to fill the shoes that were left behind by Hector “Froggy” Becerra, who had the best time in the two mile run for San Benito the previous year.
