LOS FRESNOS – The San Benito Lady ’Hounds fell short this past Tuesday at Los Fresnos after a tough fight against the Lady Falcons.
San Benito trailed almost the entire game and came within four points from taking the lead but was unable to get past the Los Fresnos defense.
The Falcons were able to keep a good enough cushion to last throughout the game and finally won with a 45-36 score. Leading scorer for the Lady ’Hounds was senior Kassy Sanchez with 15 points.
The Greyhounds also traveled to Los Fresnos for what became a thriller match in the last seconds of the game, but just fell short to a last second half-court shot by the Falcons, making the final score 58-57.
San Benito seemed to dominate the Falcons on both sides of the ball throughout, but the Falcons remained poised and were able to stay in the game until the end.
After a few questionable calls by the officials affecting both teams, Los Fresnos was able to get a single man open with less than three seconds left in the game, who then was able to launch and make a half-court shot, winning the game for the Falcons in the most improbable of plays.
