SAN BENITO, TX—Pedro Z. Rivera, 85 of San Benito passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
He was a lifelong resident of San Benito who enjoyed fishing, bar-b-cueing and spending time with his family; he proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his son, Tomas Rivera; and grandchildren, Juan Gonzalez and Edward Anthony Folsom.
Pedro is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Magdalena S. Rivera; his children, Juan (Frances) Rivera, Olga (Charles) Folsom, Ricardo (Rachael) Rivera, Norma R. Gutierrez, Edward (Polly) Rivera, and Belinda S. Rivera; along with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitations were held on Friday, October 14, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a holy rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m.. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. mass of resurrection at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 205 of Harlingen.
