CORPUS CHRISTI – Call this win a comeback.
These San Benito Greyhounds, although hit hard by last week’s 49-7 loss to rival Harlingen, traveled to Corpus Christi Friday night to take on the Flour Bluff Hornets, a team that defeated the ’Hounds 35-19 in 2010.
The tables were turned, nearly by the same point margin, as San Benito came out victorious by a score of 38-24.
Spurred by motivation following last week’s lost and inspired to win after remembering last year’s defeat at the hands of the same opponent, the ’Hounds overcame a sloppy start in the first quarter and during much of that half to find their rhythm, both offensively and on the D.
“This was a redemption game for us, and that was the theme of this week: redemption,” said Head Coach Spencer Gantt about his ’Hounds. “We wanted to redeem ourselves from last week’s loss, and we wanted to redeem ourselves from last year’s loss to this Flour Bluff team.”
