Friends and family of David Corona of San Benito are holding a fishing tournament and fundraiser to help pay for the hospital bills.
The Seventh Annual Villarreal’s Family Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 in Arroyo City, and all proceeds will be going to Corona.
Corona, 50, underwent surgery for an aneurysm on Feb. 22 of this year. Upon recovering, he suffered an infection from the operation, which resulted in him undergoing a second surgery on April 23 in Houston.
His wife, Yvonne Villareal Corona, has been at his side the whole time, but she describes his condition as “day to day.”
“Some days are good for him, and some days are bad,” Yvonne said of her normally active husband. “Everything is upside down for him.”
