A community pep rally to show support for members of the Lady ’Hound softball team is scheduled for Thursday, May 26 at 6 p.m. at the San Benito High School gymnasium.
The Lady ’Hounds (34-3) defeated San Antonio Southwest in the regional semifinals and now move on to the Elite 8. The win makes the Lady ’Hounds the only Valley team left standing, as well as the first ever to make it this far in the state playoffs.
The Lady ’Hounds played against San Antonio Southwest on game one and defeated them on Friday with a score of 3-2, and defeated them again in game two on Saturday, with a score of 1-0.
The Lady ’Hounds will now play the best of three games against San Antonio O’Connor, a team that knocked Edinburg out of the playoffs. Game one is set for Friday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. while game two is set for Saturday, May 28 at 5 p.m. at Cabaniss Field in Corpus Christi. If a third game is necessary, it will be played 30 minutes after the second game.
The community is encouraged to attend and provide support to the Lady ’Hounds during the pep rally.
